Financial Education: It Pays Off

It's easy to be overwhelmed by money.

Bills, taxes, a Roth IRA? That's quite a mouthful, isn't it?

Less than a third of Americans prepare a household budget, and college costs rising faster than financial aid can keep up. In fact, up to 40% of low-income students who are accepted to college in the spring never make it to the first day of class in the fall.

At Fairfield Moneyminds, we hope to dispel your fears. While it may seem like an endless battle to find ways to pay for college, we believe it's time to begin a conversation about how to save, spend, earn, and manage your money.

An enormous insecurity about financial education can lead to students feeling fearful entering and surviving financially in college. Many youth in low-income households struggle developing the financial skills necessary to cross the gap. We hope to bridge the gap between the classroom and home to deliver resources and support necessary to help youth across our city.

Whether it means always feeling broke or having trouble saving up for a car, we have all experienced moments of financial doubt. Financial education is very important to understand and can be a useful tool in life. More than half of teens know very little about how to handle their finances. In adulthood, these tools can be used to pursue your dreams and passions!

Our vision is to think forward: we will provide students across Fairfield with the academic enrichment, financial education, and skills needed to thrive as financially empowered adults. Our goal is to end the cycle of poverty in the lives of students and their families.

Through our workshops, we hope to ease that doubt and give youth the confidence they need to make smarter money decisions.

We hope you'll join us on this mission.
